BOSTON (CBS) - An elderly man walking in West Roxbury was hit and killed by a car Wednesday morning, police said.

It happened just after 7 a.m. on Washington Street near Stimson Street.

Boston Police told WBZ-TV the driver stopped immediately and called them. His car windshield was shattered and evidence markers were placed by two sneakers on the side of the road.

The man who was hit died at the scene. His name has not been made public.

Residents say they've seen multiple crashes here over the years.

"They fly around the corner onto Stimson a lot and they fly from Roslindale or from Dedham, either way," resident Lindsey Walsh told WBZ.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
