Boston Police Arrest Man Accused Of 'Violently Restraining' Woman In South End
BOSTON (CBS) – Police arrested a man accused of "violently restraining" a woman in Boston's South End. Michael Powers was arrested Monday, several hours after Boston Police released a photo of a suspect in the incident.
It happened Sunday just before 5 p.m. on Harrison Ave. Boston Police shared a photo of the man allegedly involved in the incident.
The victim was able to free herself and call for help. When she did, Powers allegedly ran away despite efforts by witnesses to stop him.
Witnesses say Powers had last been seen running toward Albany Street, where he jumped a fence into the courtyard area of the Pine Street Inn. Officers searched the area but could not find the man.
Powers was arrested around 11:30 a.m. on Monday on Mass. Ave. He was charged with aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, and assault with a dangerous weapon.
Boston Police said Powers also had several outstanding warrants. He was wanted for larceny out of Brockton District Court, drug charges in Boston, and charges that include breaking and entering in Lowell.
Powers is scheduled to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court.
