Wounded Boston Police Officers Upgraded To Stable Condition

BOSTON (CBS) – Both police officers injured in an East Boston shootout have been upgraded to stable condition following multiple surgeries.

Officer Matt Morris and Officer Richard Cintolo were shot while responding to a domestic violence call on Gladstone Street in East Boston on Wednesday night. Suspect Kirk Figueroa was killed as police returned fire.

The veteran Boston Police officers remain hospitalized as Massachusetts General Hospital.

On Monday, Boston Police tweeted that Commissioner William Evans visited both officers, and both are "out of the critical phase."

Morris and Cintolo are now in stable condition.

"Both guys doing better. It appears somebody upstairs is listening to all of our prayers," Evans said.
