Boston Police: Market In Dorchester Doubled As Drug Dealing Operation

DORCHESTER (CBS) – A 60-year-old Dorchester business owner is facing drug dealing charges after Boston police say he was running an illegal cocaine and heroin operation out of his market.

Ramon Fermin, 60, of Mattapan owns the Dolly Market in Dorchester.

Police say they seized 1,210 grams of suspected cocaine, 290 grams of suspected heroin, and 1,688 grams of unknown brown and white power substances during raids at the market and another address on Friday.

Officers also say they recovered 122 bottles of a substance used to dilute drugs, $11,200 in cash and a 12-gauge pistol-grip shotgun with an obliterated serial number.

Fermin is charged with Trafficking Class A (Heroin), Trafficking Class B (Cocaine), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Firearm With Obliterated Serial Number, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws.

Carlos Pimentel, 37, of Dorchester was also arrested. He's charged with Unlawful Possession of Ammunition and Conspiracy to Violate the Drug Laws.

Police say the suspected drug dealing operation had been under investigation for eight months.
