Boston Police Close To Finding Name For New K-9 Puppy

BOSTON (CBS) – The Boston Police Department's newest K-9 puppy is close to having a name.

Police asked the public to come up with a name for the puppy, which is a 9-week-old Belgian Shepherd.

The department said on Tuesday that more than 20,000 name suggestions were submitted.

Officer Troy Caisey, the head K-9 trainer for Boston Police, will have final say on the dog's name.

The list has been narrowed down to 10 choices.

Caisey will select Cannon, Clink, Hero, Kevlar, Kojack, Tango, Titus, Rocco, Tuuka, or Viggo as the dog's name.

The K-9 officer asked one final time for public assistance in the name selection process.

To vote, followers can visit the Boston Police Department on Facebook, or weigh in on Twitter.

Boston Police will announce the dog's name later this week.
