Merry Allston Christmas! It's Moving Day In Boston
ALLSTON (CBS) -- It's "Allston Christmas" in the city, the day when thousands of college students move in to on- and off-campus housing.
The city of Boston released a detailed traffic advisory Tuesday for the neighborhoods most affected: Allston-Brighton, Mission Hill, Fenway, and Roxbury
"Yeah, move-out day, it's going to be bedlam," one BU grad who was leaving his Allston neighborhood told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens Wednesday.

The clock is ticking for former students who have some cleaning up to do before they leave their apartments.
It's also the time students peruse the pavement for free furniture and goods left by those moving out.
"Everyone puts their stuff on the street," described one outgoing resident. "People come by and pick it up if they need it, and leave it for the trash guys if they don't."

"It's good, because you actually find a lot of stuff that people are throwing away, and you get to keep it for yourself," said the BU grad.
He said that, last year, he got a great desk and dresser this way--but he said those looking for cheap stuff for free should be careful.

"You only look for wood," he said. "Don't get anything with fabric, it has bedbugs."
The City of Boston released a move-in heat map on their website Wednesday.
