Boston Mascots 'Train' For Upcoming Head Of The Charles Regatta

BOSTON (CBS) – The Head of the Charles Regatta is just over a week away, and a trio of familiar faces got in some last-minute "training" recently.

Red Sox mascot Wally the Green Monster recently joined Lucky, the Boston Celtics leprechaun, and Slyde of the New England Revolution at the Cambridge Boat Club.

While at the boat club, the mascots took part in an afternoon rowing session with Fred Schoch, executive director of the regatta.

WBZ-TV is a sponsor for the Head of the Charles, which is the world's largest two-day regatta.

The event draws more than 11,000 rowers and over 400,000 spectators along the banks of Boston's Charles River.

This year's event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Oct. 18, and Sunday, Oct. 19, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
