Boston Marathon Runner Grateful After Stranger Returns Wedding Ring
BOSTON (CBS) – Jeff Glaser of Austin, Texas, says he was at mile 23 in the Boston Marathon when he removed his cold, drenched gloves.
"It was really cold that's why I decided to take my gloves off because I couldn't feel my hands," Glaser said.
When he removed his gloves his wedding ring fell off.
"When I took my left glove off a runner near me said I think you just lost your wedding ring," Glaser said.
Glaser said he searched and searched but couldn't find his ring. It was lost in the sea of 30,000 runners.
Both physically drained and emotionally upset Glaser decided to finish his race.
"I was disappointed. I lost some time and my wedding ring," Glaser said.
Fortunately someone in this myriad of runners found his ring and carried it across the finish line, turned it in to a BAA official.
"I want to express my appreciation to that person because that was an awesome thing to do," Glaser said.
Jeff got the call while he was recovering in his hotel room. He and his wife have been married for seven years.
"It's very important obviously, but now it's even more important to have this back. Whoever did this, I want you to know how much my wife and I appreciate what you've done for us," Glaser said.
