Boston Marathon Hero Raises Awareness of Suicide Prevention

September 20, 2014
Today he is known as the man with the cowboy hat who helped save lives at the 2013 Boston Marathon bombings. Carlos Arredondo is a Boston Marathon hero! But, long before that he and his wife Melida Arredondo had been local community activists fighting for other good causes that are close and dear to their hearts! After losing their son Alexander to the war in Iraq in 2004 and their youngest son Brian to suicide in 2011, they haven't stopped creating awareness about these important issues. Because September is National Suicide Prevention Month, on this edition of Centro, WBZ's Yadires Nova-Salcedo talks to Carlos and Melida Arredondo about their personal experience and the Samaritans' 5K Walk they are having in memory of their son Brian. Tune in!
