Boston Man Charged In Mattapan Shooting

BOSTON (CBS) -- A 22-year-old Boston man is facing multiple charges after he allegedly shot another man in Mattapan on Wednesday afternoon.

Patrick Bishop has been charged with assault with intent to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, and unlawful possession of ammunition.

Boston police say a man in his twenties was hurt in the shooting around 2 p.m. on Fessenden Street. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital.

Police spoke with witnesses at the scene and found a man in the area matching the description of the suspect. When they approached him, he ran away.

Officers were able to catch the suspect, later identified as Bishop, and allegedly found a firearm in his backpack.

It's unclear when he will appear in court.
