BOSTON (CBS) – With temperatures expected to be in the 90s for several more days, Boston Mayor Marty Walsh has declared a heat emergency in the city.

The temperature climbed to 90 degrees at Logan Airport before noon on Saturday, officially marking the first heatwave in Boston since September.

Temperatures are expected to remain high throughout the week, prompting Walsh to declare the heat emergency.

Boston Police urged residence to check one elderly family members who may be susceptible to heat exhaustion or heatstroke.

Residents are reminded to never leave children or pets alone in the car due to the high temperatures.
