Boston Health Officials Seek Man Who Handled Rabid Bat

BOSTON (CBS) - Health officials in Boston are looking to identify a man who had direct contact with a rabid bat in Jamaica Plain.

The Boston Public Health Commission says the man captured the bat at about 6:00 p.m. Monday night.

On Tuesday, the Hinton State Laboratory notified the BPHC that the bat tested positive for rabies.

"This individual needs preventive treatment against rabies and should contact BPHC or his primary care provider to begin treatment as soon as possible," the commission said in a statement.

If you have information, contact BPHC at 617-534-5611.
