BOSTON (CBS) – We know Boston is home to one of the best Fourth of July celebrations in the nation. But you don't have to wait until the show on the Esplanade to start having some holiday fun.

Boston's Harborfest kicks off on Friday. The 4-day festival is the nation's largest Fourth of July celebration.

It features more than 100 family-friendly events around the city, many with a nod to Boston's rich colonial and maritime history.

From historical demonstrations to arts displays, there's something for everyone.

Friday night music will fill Christopher Columbus Park in the North End starting at 6 p.m., followed by a screening of Yankee Doodle Dandy on the grass.

On Saturday, Boston Harbor will light up with fireworks along with a musical show on Long Wharf.
