Boston EMT Meets Now-5-Year-Old Girl He Delivered On His Birthday

BOSTON (CBS) - Five years after a Boston EMT made headlines for delivering a baby girl who couldn't wait for the hospital, mom and daughter were reunited with the first responder for the first time.

For EMT Chris Mancuso, April 29, 2009 marked his first time delivering a baby, and it was also his birthday.

On Thursday, Mancuso got a chance to meet Carrie Coughlin Germain and her five-year-old daughter Eva, whom he helped deliver.

"We just thought we'd give it a go and try to meet up with him and just say 'hi,'" Coughlin Germain said. "It's great to see him again."

Eva didn't have much to say, but mom says she's been excited for the reunion.

Chris and Eva exchanged presents and high-fives, and celebrated their mutual birthday with a cake.

Reflecting back on the event, Mancuso said he thought it was pretty exciting to share his birthday.

"I didn't realize it until later on in the call and I was like 'oh, it's my birthday,'" he told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Carl Stevens.
