Boston Council Holding Hearing On City's 2024 Olympics Bid

BOSTON (AP) — A special City Council panel overseeing Boston's 2024 Summer Olympics bid will be looking at venue locations and financing for the international event.

The meeting at City Hall on Friday comes as Olympics organizers promise to unveil updated plans by June 30.

Organizers say they will provide more details about costs and the event's two central facilities: the Olympic stadium and athletes' village. Those venues have been proposed for Widett Circle and the University of Massachusetts Boston campus, respectively.

Organizers have been rolling out other venue changes in recent weeks. Beach volleyball, for example, is now proposed for the Quincy waterfront, rather than Boston Common.

The council committee will issue a report this summer once it completes its hearings. Paris and Rome are among the cities vying for the Games.
