Boston College To Face Penn State In Pinstripe Bowl At Yankee Stadium

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Boston College Eagles are going bowling.

After a 7-6 season, the Eagles have accepted an invitation to the New Era Pinstripe Bowl, where they fill face the Penn State Nittany Lions at Yankee Stadium.

The Pinstripe Bowl will be played on Saturday, Dec. 27, at 4:30 p.m.

The bowl bid makes head coach Steve Addazio 2-for-2 in making a bowl game as head coach of the Eagles. Last year, Addazio's team lost to Arizona in the AdvoCare V100 Bowl.

B.C. has not played Penn State since 2004, when B.C. won 21-7.

"We are honored to be headed to New York City to play in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl," B.C.'s athletic director Brad Bates said. "This is the perfect bowl destination for us as so many of our players, their families, our alumni and fans are from the New York metropolitan area. New York is within driving distance of our students and supporters, so we expect a great crowd of fans cheering on the Eagles. This is a wonderful reward for our student-athletes and we could not be more excited."

Boston College is 13-10 all time in bowl games.

The game will be televised on ESPN.
