Boston Activists Rally For Climate Change Action
BOSTON (AP) — Hundreds of activists are rallying in downtown Boston to call for "bold action" as international climate talks in Paris are ending.
Representatives from dozens of environmental, labor, religious and other advocacy groups are gathering Saturday to demand "climate solutions that create secure, well-paying union jobs and enhance community resiliency."
The day starts with a gathering at 1 p.m. at the Parkman Bandstand on the Boston Common, followed by a march through downtown and a rally at the State House.
The president of Connecticut State Council of Machinists, a member of Maine's Penobscot Tribe and the president of the Council on American-Islamic Relations of Massachusetts are among the day's featured speakers.
World leaders have been meeting in Paris since Nov. 30 to hammer out a deal reducing global greenhouse-gas emissions.
