Boston City Hall Now Has A Porch To Go With Its Beach

BOSTON (AP) — Boston City Hall now has a porch to go with its beach.

Mayor Marty Walsh formally opened "City Hall Porch" to give Bostonians and visitors an opportunity to enliven City Hall Plaza.

The porch is an extension of an artificial turf front lawn installed earlier this summer to let people play games, socialize and relax in the sunshine on the steps to the city's government complex downtown. It incorporates plastic seasonal patios designed to provide comfortable seating in public spaces.

Walsh says he hopes the porch will make the area more welcoming.
