Bruins Get Some Good News? Zdeno Chara Day-To-Day

BOSTON (CBS) --  Boston Bruins head coach Claude Julien was a little concerned following Thursday night's preseason win over the Rangers, but said he received some good news on Friday.

Having already lost Dennis Seidenberg for eight weeks after the defenseman underwent back surgery, Julien was worried he had just lost his most important blue liner in Zdeno Chara, who left Thursday night's win with an upper body injury after just 1:57 of ice time.

Chara took a hit in front of the Bruins bench Thursday night and did not return to the ice. His status was unknown immediately following the game, but the Bruins were able to make a big exhale on Friday.

"[Chara is] day-to-day, which is good news for us," Julien told reporters Friday. "That's what I've been told and that's all I can say right now.

"Day-to-day is good news to me. I thought it might be worse last night," Julien added.

Chara played in just 63 games last season after suffering a knee injury in late October. That kept him sidelined until December, and the 38-year-old really regained his form after returning. He finished the season with eight goals and 12 assists and an even zero in plus-minus, his lowest plus-minus rating since his arrival in Boston in 2006.
