Boston Auctioneer Hosting Rare 'Fine Ales' Auction

BOSTON (CBS) ---  How much would you spend on a bottle of beer?

Beer-lovers can test their love and purse strings during a "fine ales" auction hosted by Skinner Auction House in conjunction with Lower Falls Wine Company, Tuesday night at the Park Plaza. The local auctioneer says it's the first to hold a beer auction.

Much like wine, fine ales can be aged up to 20 years or more in the bottle.

According to the auction site, highlights include the Cantillon Loerik – brewed just once in 1998 – Sam Adams Millennium and Geuze from the long-shuttered Eylenbosch brewery.

The Loerik is expected to fetch $2-3,000 at auction.

If you're looking for collectables never before seen, The Bruery is offering back vintage bottles not available to the general public. Proceeds from those lots will benefit One Fund Boston.
