Boston 2 Inches Away From Snowiest Winter Ever

BOSTON (CBS) -- The city of Boston is inching ever closer to breaking a nearly 20-year-old record for the snowiest winter ever.

Another round of snow showers Tuesday night brought the season total to 105.7 inches. That's just 1.9 inches short of the all-time record of 107.6 inches set in the winter of 1995-96.

With more snow in the forecast, the old record may only have hours to stand.

WBZ-TV meteorologist Danielle Niles says a coating to 2 inches of snow is expected to fall in the city late Wednesday night and into Thursday.

This is only the second time that Boston has seen more than 100 inches of snow in a season.
