Body Parts Found Near Lobster Trap On Swampscott Beach

SWAMPSCOTT (CBS) -- Authorities are investigating human remains that washed up near a lobster trap in Swampscott Wednesday morning.

The Essex County District Attorney's Office said a person walking on King's Beach reported finding the body parts near a lobster trap that apparently washed ashore during the high surf caused by the Blizzard of 2015.

Massachusetts State Police detectives and Swampscott police were at the scene Wednesday morning.

"The body parts will be examined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for identification," district attorney spokeswoman Carrie Kimball Monahan said in a statement. "It is too early to speculate as to possible identity."
