Body Of Westminster Man Killed Fighting ISIS Returns To Massachusetts

BOSTON (CBS) -- The body of a Westminster man killed while fighting against ISIS is back in Massachusetts.

36-year-old Keith Broomfield was killed while fighting alongside Kurdish forces on June 3 in Syria.

The Bolton native was aboard a Turkish Airlines plane that arrived Saturday at Logan Airport. He was then taken to a funeral home in Hudson.

Broomfield's parents told WBZ that he had no military training but he felt the need to stand up and fight what he called "evil."

He went overseas in February.

Broomfield is believed to be the first U.S. citizen killed fighting with Kurdish tribal forces.

WBZ-TV's Katie Brace reports that funeral services are likely to be announced this weekend.
