Bobby Orr Statue Arrives At New Home Outside TD Garden

BOSTON (CBS) – Bobby Orr has a new home - for a few years at least.

The statue of the Bruins icon was recently moved from its location outside TD Garden due to construction.

On Saturday, the Bruins shared photos of the statue being relocated around the corner at Portal Park, which overlooks the Zakim Bridge near the arena.

Crews used a crane to put the 800-pound statue into place.

It will remain at Portal Park for around three years. Then, when construction is finished at TD Garden, the team says the statue will be a centerpiece at the building's entrance.

The Orr statue recreates the iconic moment in 1970 when the defenseman went airborne after scoring the overtime winner versus the St. Louis Blues to clinch the Stanley Cup.
