Boat Hits Power Lines, Bursts Into Flames Near Marion

MARION (CBS) - Two boaters were rescued after the mast of their trimaran ran into high power tension lines on Friday in the Weweantic River between Marion and Wareham.

Witnesses say one man on board jumped into the water while the other tried to put out the flames.

The boat was called 'Hot Tamale.'

Nearby boaters rescued both men and brought them to shore.

The harbormaster's office says the sailors were mooring the boat nearby and are familiar with the area.

Friday afternoon, there was an unusually high tide, but the office was unclear why the men sailed the boat named "hot tamale" where they did.
