Blount, Solder Pass Initial Medical Tests Before Start Of Patriots Training Camp

BOSTON (CBS) -- Running back LeGarrette Blount and offensive tackle Nate Solder both passed the Patriots' initial medical tests prior to Thursday's start of 2016 training camp, ESPN's Mike Reiss confirmed Tuesday.

Reiss noted Solder and Blount's presences in a video showing them practicing in preparation for the start of camp on Thursday, July 28. That they were cleared to practice is an indication that they passed the initial tests required to do so.

Solder was a surprise absence from the list of Patriots players placed on the physically unable to perform list prior to the start of camp, but his status is no longer in doubt. Blount, meanwhile, was highlighted by Reiss as a player whose job could be in jeopardy, but it appears that he will have the whole training camp to earn his job in the Patriots backfield after recovering from a hip injury that cut his 2015 season short.

Neither Blount nor Solder practiced with the Patriots during spring minicamps and OTAs.
