'Blood Moon' Viewing Early Tuesday

A pretty spectacular sight will grace our pre-dawn skies on Tuesday.   A total lunar eclipse will turn the moon a coppery red, hence its name, the blood moon. To take advantage of it, you'll have to stay up late from Monday night into Tuesday…2-4 AM or so will be the best viewing time.

Clouds ahead of an approaching cold front may be the only fly in the ointment.  I do think they'll be high-altitude in nature and thin enough that some filtered viewing of the moon will be possible. Clouds or not, if you don't get a chance to see this eclipse, you're in luck! It's one of four total eclipses that will take place in North America over the next year and a half; the next occurs on October 8 and another two follow next year on April 4 and September 28th.

So get your cameras ready – and send us your photos! You can find me on facebook & twitter too if you'd like to send pics through social media.
