Two Arrests Made In Blackstone Murder

BOSTON (CBS) -- Two men have been arrested for the fatal Friday night shooting of a man in Blackstone.

According to the Worcester District Attorney's Office, William Hodges, 34, of Milford and Brendan Bates, 25, of Quincy were arrested Sunday for the murder of Kevin Gonsalves, 33 of Milford, as well as for misleading a police investigation.

Gonsalves was killed shortly after 7:30 p.m. Friday after being shot multiple times in the driveway of a house on Mendon Street. According to the Worcester District Attorney's Office, Hodges and Bates drove Gonsalves to the house under the pretense of robbing a drug dealer, and shot him in the head and chest when he exited the car.

Early's office also said the shooting was over a dispute Hodges had with Gonsalves.

On Monday, the State Police Dive Team recovered what is believed to be the handgun used in the shooting.

Hodges and Bates are being held without bail. Bates will return to court January 5, and Hodges on January 6.
