Dog Rescued From Billerica Pond After Falling Through Ice

BILLERICA (CBS) – Firefighters pulled a dog from frigid water after it fell through the ice of a Billerica pond.

A dog walker let their pitbull mutt of her leash, and the animal ran onto the icy pond at Vietnam Veterans Memorial Park.

The entire pond was frozen solid, with the exception of one spot. When the dog ran to that one area, it fell through the thin ice.

When firefighters arrived, the dog was sitting on an ice shelf.

One of the Billerica firefighters was already dressed in his cold water suit upon arrival. He quickly got to the dog and took him to land.
