Injuries reported after massive fire at junkyard in Billerica
BILLERICA - A massive fire broke out at a junkyard in Billerica on Friday afternoon.
One man was treated at the scene for severe burns and was taken to the hospital.
SkyEye was over the scene, where the roof of a building appeared to have collapsed in. Multiple cars were also on fire and thick black smoke filled the air. Firefighters had a hard time getting a handle on the blaze because the nearest fire hydrant 1,800 feet away.
An investigation conducted by the Billerica Fire Department and the State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal's Office determined the fire was accidentally caused by a torch that was being used on a vehicle.
