Bill Allowing Baby Pictures On Beer Bottles Goes Through

CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — New Hampshire restaurants and stores will soon be allowed to sell beer bottles that include pictures of minors on the label, as long as the images don't encourage underage drinking.

Senators joined the House on Wednesday in overriding Gov. Maggie Hassan's veto of legislation to change the rules around alcohol advertisements. Republican Rep. Keith Murphy, the owner of a popular Manchester bar, sponsored the legislation because he wants people to be able to buy a bottle of his favorite beer, Breakfast Stout, which is crafted by a Michigan-based brewery and features a picture of a baby on the label. He can already sell it out of the tap at his tavern.

Hassan has said changing the law would undermine New Hampshire's efforts to combat underage drinking.

The bill is set to take effect 60 days after passage.
