Ben & Jerry's Renames Ice Cream Flavor To Celebrate Gay Marriage Ruling

BURLINGTON, V.T. (CBS) -- Ben & Jerry's is saying "I Dough" to marriage equality.

The Vermont ice cream maker announced that in light of the Supreme Court decision to legalize same-sex marriage across the country, it's renaming the Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavor to "I Dough, I Dough" for the summer.

"Ben & Jerry's has been proudly committed to issues of social justice, including gay rights and marriage equality, for over 35 years," the company said. "To see this chapter in U.S. history finally close is almost beyond belief."

In 1989, Ben & Jerry's was the first Vermont company to give full benefits to same-sex partners of its workers.

The commemorative pints are being sold through the Human Rights Campaign.
