Belmont Woman Who Completed World Marathon To Run Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- Belmont resident Becca Pizzi recently completed seven marathons on seven continents, in seven days. But she's not stopping there.

In an interview with "CBS This Morning" on Thursday, Pizzi says she plans to the run the Boston Marathon this April for the 16th time.

Pizzi finished third overall in the seven marathons. She said she had no doubt she would complete the 183-mile run.

"I didn't use the word 'marathon.' I didn't use the word 'mile.' I thought of it as another long run. That's what got me through it."

The 35-year-old single mother and daycare center operator became the first American woman to ever accomplish the feat, and she did it in record world-record time.

She returned home to a parade in Belmont held in her honor.

"I felt like I triumphed. What an honor to represent our country and the amount of people that believed in me and told me I could do it - I learned how to be strong and just triumph through all odds against you," she said.
