Malnourished Dog Euthanized In Bellingham, Police Seek Owner

BELLINGHAM (CBS) – Police are trying to find and charge the owner of a malnourished dog that was found in a Bellingham road and eventually euthanized.

A pointer dog was found around 1 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Maple and High Streets in Bellingham.

The animal was in very poor condition, lying in the middle of the road and unable to walk.

Animal Control took the dog to an area veterinarian, who found its body temperature was severely low and its organs were shutting down.

According to the Bellingham Animal Control officer, the only humane choice was to euthanize the dog.

Police are now looking to find the dog's owner and charge them with animal cruelty and neglect.
