Belichick Didn't Celebrate Patriots' Latest AFC East Title: 'Just A Lot Of Sleeping'

BOSTON (CBS) -- The Patriots didn't get a "Hat & T-Shirt Day" for clinching their latest AFC East title, and apparently their head coach wasn't very excited for the team's seventh straight division crown.

The Pats clinched Monday night thanks to a Miami Dolphins loss to the New York Giants, their 13th AFC East title in the last 15 years. Division titles have become somewhat of an old hat in New England, but they're still pretty important and one of the Patriots' first goals when they begin each season.

So there must have been some kind of celebration going on at the home of head coach Bill Belichick on Monday night, right?

"No. Just a lot of sleeping," he told reporters Wednesday morning.

You can't really blame Belichick for heading to bed early (the Dolphins-Giants game got over around 11:30 p.m.), given the Patriots had a prime-time game the night before -- their sixth of the season.

Division titles are important when your goal is a Super Bowl championship, but then again, so is sleep. It's a luxury Belichick won't get to enjoy very much with the postseason right around the corner.
