Behold: Lego David Ortiz Debuts At Fenway Park

By Michael Hurley, CBS Boston

BOSTON (CBS) -- Everything is awesome, everything is cool if you're David Ortiz.

The Red Sox' superstar who's seen it all was introduced this week to something brand new: A life-size Lego version of himself.

The Red Sox will unveil the Lego statue at Fenway Park on Wednesday, giving fans the chance to see the statue that measures 6-feet-7-inches from shoes to the top of his extended finger pointing skyward.

The model is made up of 34,510 bricks, and it took builders 290 hours to make it. The Lego version of David is notably lighter than the real thing, but it still weighs in at 170 pounds.

Ortiz and his son, D'Angelo, posed for some photos with the Lego statue earlier this week at home plate.

ESPN.com also posted a video of the construction of the statue, which was quite impressive.

Wednesday is Lego Day at Fenway Park, a day that will offer free Red Sox player builds and a pregame Lego Build Experience in the Kids Concourse. That's where the Ortiz statue will also be available for viewing.
