BBB, Officials Warning About IRS Telephone Tax Scams

MEDFORD (CBS) - The Middlesex Sheriff's Office is warning people to be aware of an IRS telephone scam involving someone claiming to be a Middlesex Deputy Sheriff.

The caller reportedly tells people they owe money to the IRS. It's one of many IRS-related scams that officials are seeing this year.

Paula Fleming with the Better Business Bureau says this is the time of year - tax time - that scammers are particularly active.
