Barney Frank To Appear At Documentary Screening At UMass

DARTMOUTH (AP) — Former Massachusetts Congressman Barney Frank is set to appear at a screening of a documentary about his life.

The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth will show "Compared to What? The Improbable Journey of Barney Frank" on Tuesday afternoon.

The 76-year-old Newton Democrat will take questions after the screening. He's speaking to two political science classes beforehand.

Frank served in Congress for 32 years, from 1981 to 2013, representing a district that included Dartmouth and other parts of southeastern Massachusetts.

Frank was one of just a handful of openly gay members of Congress. He served as chairman of the House Financial Services Committee and co-sponsored the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act that sought to reform the U.S. financial sector following the recession.

The general public is invited to the event.
