Maine Police Arrest 12-Year-Old Driver After Brief Chase

BANGOR, Maine (CBS) – Police in Maine arrested a 12-year-old boy early Saturday morning after he refused to stop for officers while driving a car.

Bangor Police spotted an erratic operator around 4 a.m. on Saturday morning.

The car was being driven without headlights, had front end damage, and was dragging part of the front bumper on the pavement.

An officer activated his siren and attempted to stop the driver, but the vehicle continued.

Another officer was able to stop the car using the front of his cruiser near Broadway and Center Streets.

Police found the driver was a 12-year-old boy and he was arrested without incident.

The patrol car suffered minor damage.

Bangor Police are trying to determine what the boy hit before he was spotted by officers.

The 12-year-old driver was charged with driving to endanger, eluding a police officer, and theft. The boy could face additional charges.
