Authorities: Haverhill Woman Charged With Posing As Special Needs Nurse
SALEM (CBS) - Authorities say a Haverhill woman charged with child endangerment for pretending to be a special education nurse appeared in a Salem court on Friday.
Lisa Bilodeau was in Salem Superior Court for a change of plea hearing. She is changing her plea, feeling out the judge to see what a lesser sentence would be, according to an Essex District Attorney's office statement.
The commonwealth is seeking prison time while her attorney is asking for probation.
She will next be in court Monday morning.
Bilodeau gave Nettle Middle School falsified licensing credentials and was later fired after the school learned what she had done, according to a report by the Eagle Tribune.
She was fired on March 25, 2014.
Superintendent James Scully told the Eagle Tribune that Bilodeau began working as a substitute nurse at Moody School two summers ago and was hired at the start of school last year to work with severely disabled students at Nettle School.
He told the Eagle Tribune that a preliminary review of her licensing credentials passed muster, but that a more detailed review later turned up discrepancies.
She worked with special needs children who communicate non-verbally.
Part of her role was consulting with doctors.
Some of the kids suffered from infections because of her lack of care, officials say.
