Auburn Police Start Memorial Fund For Slain Officer's Family

AUBURN (CBS) - The Auburn Police Department set up a memorial fund Monday for the wife and children of Officer Ronald Tarentino.

Tarentino was killed early Sunday morning during a traffic stop.  The man who shot him, 35-year-old Jorge Zambrano, was killed several hours later in a shootout with police that also left a state trooper wounded.

"Words can not adequately express our Department's appreciation for the outpouring of support that we have received after the tragic loss of Officer Tarentino," police said in a statement on their Facebook page.
