AstroTurf, Lawn Games Coming To Boston City Hall Plaza

BOSTON (CBS) – Officials are set to make a new addition to Boston's City Hall Plaza.

Mayor Marty Walsh's office confirmed to WBZ-TV that a 40-foot-by-40 foot stretch of AstroTurf is scheduled to be installed on City Hall Plaza next week.

The mayor envisions the AstroTurf as an ideal spot for lawn games.

Earlier this year, Walsh asked the public to send along ideas for how City Hall Plaza could be redesigned.

Each day, about 20,000 to 30,000 people walk through the area.

The installation of AstroTurf at City Hall Plaza is expected to cost about $600, the mayor's office said.
