Assumption College Evacuated After Bomb Threat

WORCESTER (CBS) - Assumption College was evacuated late Tuesday night because of a bomb threat.

The threat was emailed to a school employee and authorities were notified.

The entire campus was cleared out, while investigators spent the night searching the college room-by-room.

Students who had no place to stay were sent to Worcester Polytechnic Institute for the night.

Classes were cancelled for Wednesday.

The college hopes to have the campus open again around 8 p.m.

Assumption President Francesco Cesaro told reporters Wednesday once local authorities declare the campus safe, students will be notified via email, the school's website and Facebook page and Assumption's RAVE Alert System.

He said no dangerous or suspicious devices have been found.

No other information is available at this point in the investigation.
