Ashland Man Wakes Up To Would-Be Burglar In His Home

ASHLAND (CBS) -- An Ashland resident got an unwelcome surprise on Friday after waking up to a burglar in his home.

One homeowner woke up Friday afternoon and, after hearing some noise in the other room, spotted a man lurking his kitchen. When he yelled 'hey' at the intruder, the man ran out the backdoor of the home and through the woods, evading police.

"I heard something that woke me up and I looked and I saw someone peeking around the corner," the homeowner said. "I said 'hey' and he took off. I heard the back door slam...then (he went) running up the hill."

The would-be burglar did not have time to steal anything before escaping.

Police are now searching for that suspect, who they describe as man in his 20s, around 5'10" with black hair. The have not heard reports of other break ins recently.
