Ashland Boy Seriously Injured After Falling From Car

ASHLAND (CBS) – A 7-year-old boy suffered a serious head injury on Monday night after he fell off the rear bumper of a moving car, according to Ashland Police.

Police responded to a 911 call just before 10 p.m. and found the boy unconscious in the road. He was taken by ambulance to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester.

Officers think the child's father had gotten into the car at the family's home. At some point before the car drove off, the boy jumped on the car's rear bumper.

Police said there is no indication that the father intentionally injured his son, and they believe he was unaware the child had jumped on the back of the car.

Police are not releasing any names at this point. No charges have been filed but the incident remains under investigation.
