Arrest Warrant Issued For Owner Of Former Lawrence Paper Mill

LAWRENCE (CBS) --- The owner of an abandoned paper mill that was destroyed in a fire, is facing charges.

Lawrence Police confirm an arrest warrant has been issued for David Padellaro on fraud charges stemming from last year.

According to police, Padellaro was on probation for bouncing three checks worth more than $6,000, that were written to contractors to demolish the mill.

The charges are considered felonies and the warrant asks Padellaro be held without bail.

According to the Eagle Tribune, Padellaro has been under city and state orders since 2010 to develop plans for demolishing three buildings at the former Merrimac Paper mill on South Canal Street, including the landmark brick building that burned earlier this month.
