Arrest Made In Wayland Home Invasion, Assault

WAYLAND (CBS) -- Police have arrested a 21-year-old man in connection with a Wayland home invasion and assault on Sunday night.

John T. Monahan, of Wayland, is charged with assault and battery and break and entering nighttime for the incident at a West Plain Street home.

Wayland police said a man burst through an unlocked kitchen door and grabbed a 23-year-old woman, who was able to fight him off.

A police dashcam captured a person of interest walking down the street shortly after the assault.

An anonymous tip led detectives to Monahan, and police credited his arrest to widespread news coverage.

Monahan will be arraigned in Framingham District Court.
