Armed Sexual Assault Reported At Worcester State University

WORCESTER (CBS) -- A Worcester State University student reported being a victim of an armed sexual assault this week. The victim told police the attacker was armed with a silver knife.

"The fact that it was an armed sexual assault was jarring to read," said Erin Eknoian, student.

Students said they were not given any more information, and many said they want to know more so they could protect themselves.

"I'd definitely like to know more about it – like where it happened on campus, where to avoid, where you should not walk by yourself," said Emily Perry, student.

A university spokesperson would only say the attack was on-campus and would not specify citing the ongoing investigation.

Police said there is no description of the attacker. Campus police said they added more foot patrols in response to the crime. Several students said they had not seen any additional police.

"I wish there was more security. I don't think there's enough," said Sarah Fitzgerald, student.

Police said they had no reports of any additional attacks.
