Family Of Missing Waltham Woman Says, 'She Went For A Walk'
WALTHAM (CBS) - The family of the missing Waltham woman who disappeared Thursday says she only left the house to take a walk.
Police are still looking for 73-year-old Sara LaRoche who disappeared Thursday when she walked away from her Brook Avenue residence.
LaRoche's son Jean says that his mother does not have dementia or any other health problems. He says she was babysitting her grandchildren and told them she was taking a walk and would be back.
The son is a pastor in the area and he says his family is staying strong through this situation.
"It's bad for us, but we believe in God. That's why we're staying strong, because we know God can do all things," the son said.
The son also says the family recently moved to Waltham from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Police say the woman is originally from Haiti and only speaks French-Creole.
She is about 5 foot, 6 inches tall, and about 120 pounds. A shot of the woman on surveillance video shows her wearing a long, blue skirt, a white sweatshirt, and a blue head scarf.
Special police units from other towns have joined the Waltham Police in their ongoing search, including the Andover Police's ATV unit.
Sara LaRoche has three children and 19 grandchildren.
