Archie Manning: Peyton Taking His Time With Retirement Decision

BOSTON (CBS) - Archie Manning, the father of Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning and New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning, joined 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich show as part of our continuing coverage of Super Bowl XLIX.

Peyton not only had a rough outing in the AFC divisional game against the Indianapolis Colts, but a poor final month to the 2014 season as well. And in the aftermath of his team's playoff loss, Manning was noncommittal one way or another whether he was coming back or retiring.

Archie discussed with T&R which direction it seems like Peyton is heading toward, weighing his options of what's best for him in the future.

"Peyton is considering whether to come back or not. You know, at the 10-game mark people were talking MVP again and he ended up with almost 40 touchdowns," the elder Manning said of his son.

"You need to think about health as an issue, your team, and if you still enjoy doing this, enjoying the game and all those types of things. But injuries is the worst part of football. Everyone plays hurt, but when it kind of keeps you from doing what you can do, then it gets in your mind a little bit. That was kind of hard to watch, but it's part of it.

"[Peyton] is pretty good at making decisions, so he really is taking his time and evaluation everything. He'll make a good decision."
